Our April Luncheon featured many wonderful contributions from members and guests.
Great Beginnings
We missed Marti, our Chaplain who was out of town, but appreciate Cindy Honcoop of Eagle Forum for opening us in prayer. David Stamps, US Army Veteran who served in Viet Nam led us in the pledge to our flag and we were blessed to have Gabriella Rodriguez sing the National Anthem acapella. What a start!
Elected Officials were recognized starting with the very important grassroots position of representation to their neighbors, PCO (Precinct Committee Officer) and two others serving in the capacity of a member of the Ferndale School Board, Nancy Button and County Council District 4 Councilman, Mark Stremler.
It was an extra blessing, because of Spring Break to have with us Tasha Ericksen, wife of our beloved late Sen. Ericksen, and daughter-in-law of our member, Bette Ericksen.
We had 15 first-time guests joining us.
LET’S GO MEMBERSHIP!
Because of your excitement about our goals and the vision of our club, we went above and beyond our membership goal of 100! We reached 109, plus 9 associate members included in our 2024 Membership Directory. Our member, and former NFRW President, Eileen Sobjack encouraged us to “keep going with the next stop of 150 then on to 200” ☺. Membership for 2024 is open and we will add supplements to our Directories with our new members. Keep bringing friends and family to our events, we are stronger together and can accomplish more good in our community.
The drawing for the $100 Asian Fusion gift card for members joining by March 10th went to Lisa Sherry. Lisa has been a long-time member and significant contributor, having served on the Executive Board for many years. Congratulations, Lisa!
AFTER LUNCH
Jeanette Stroming, shared an Americanism about the 1787 Convention and the Constitution and Amendments.
Nancy Button, our Legislative Liaison, gave an update from the legislative session, the good, bad, and a lot of ugly. The good: 3 of the Initiatives were voted into law and the other 3 will be on the Nov. ballot to reject 3 taxes.
Preview to YAF
Daniel Johner, a high school student, who attended a YAF Conference, shared his life-changing experience as he learned about the life and legacy of Ronald Reagan, but more importantly, the enduring principles and values he lived and shared.
