Speaker: Port Commissioner Ken Bell
Ken Bell has been a Bellingham business owner for over 20 years and brings global experience in waste management and environmental cleanup to the Port of Bellingham. He is President of Best Recycling, which operates in remote regions like Alaska, Greenland, and Antarctica, and CEO of Iron Creek Group, which develops patented technologies for cleaning contaminated soils. His background working with major ports worldwide gives him unique expertise in redeveloping challenged properties like Bellingham’s waterfront.
Elected Port Commissioner in 2017, Ken has helped deliver environmental cleanups, launch the Millworks housing project, secure a new research farm for local farmers, restart shipping operations, and move forward with the Boardmill hotel and convention center. Looking ahead, he believes the Port needs vision: expanding the commission from three to five members, increasing stakeholder involvement in master planning, and growing flight options at the airport.
